There's a lot to say about "Chris Zalez & The Stinger". They are at the forefront of the blues movement and not only is the band great, they also know how to put on one hell of a show.
Born in Dallas Tx. Chris started playing guitar at the age of 12 and immideatly graduated to the sounds of musicians like Magic Sam, T-Bone Walker and Albert King. With the enormous amount of talents in Dallas like Jim Suhlee, Anson Funderburg and Mike Morgan (Just to name a few) Chris quickly attended blues jam and started learning first hand from the best Texas had to offer. The first time I saw Chris he was laying down some of the coolest rythym guitar while singing a little Milton tune. Then when his solo came up, he litterally would cut your head. Not with volume, but with his phrasing and cool vintage tone. But that was 10 years ago.
In 2000 Chris worked along side with Mike Morgan as one of the members of Crawl. Even recording along side Mike on the " Live In Dallas" CD by Severn Recording. Chris was givin a chance to add a solo spot which he wrote and sang called "Help Me". With his raspy but smooth voice it went well with the band style.
During his 4 years with Mike Morgan he got lots of exposure. Mike gave him the platform to learn and hone his guitar skills as well as his stage present. His Europen audience is still growing. After he came back from a Europen tour with Mike Morgan. Chris Zalez decided it was time to venture out on his own. With full support and ecouragement from Mike Morgan, Chris then started working on his long awaited album. Recorded in Austin under the guidence of Veteran Producer "Billy Horton" and 11 songs later, Chris was ready to make his move onto the world. "Texas Cantina" was ready to make it's debut and with Pacific Blues Recording guidance, Chris's first worldwide release is "unleashed" to the world. Since it's release, the CD has been on the top 20 playlist on many Stations around the world. His fan base is still growing and alot of musicians such as Kid Ramos, Junior Watson and Mike Morgan have high hopes for Chris. Although Chris has ventured out, He has sometimes been seen playing along side Mike Morgan.
